Confusion about walking foot

Okay my experienced friends, I have a question about walking feet. I recently was given a Singer 160 anniversary edition by my sweetie which is wonderful! I have always just used my workhorse Brother that is at least 20 years old.
In my users manual it talks about how to use the machine to quilt and recommends a walking foot but when I went tot he local Joanne's, they just pointed out the only one they had. I doesn't list any compatible machines or anything and isn't labeled sing.
Will the walking foot work do you think? Advice, please?
Color me confused

Hi, congratulations on your new sewing machine. I went to the Singer website (www.singerco.com) and searched your machine for accessories. The walking foot can be ordered for $29.99 plus shipping. You can also do an internet search for the walking foot to see who else sells it. Good Luck!

There might be some information in your owner's manual about where to go to find accessories for your Singer model.
