I need help regarding vacation at Florida in Feb 2013
Hi everyone,
we are planning to spend our vacation at Florida. Hurray !!! So I have the question if someone has a suggestion about a good and not so expensive vacation home (is it the right American word? Maybe it is called hoiday house?) near the beach between Miami and West Palm Beach or around Cape Coral, Fort Myers. Could be also a apartment, main thing is having a nice pool. Normally we would travel between Feb16 and March 2, but a colleague just told me that this is spring brake time, and to be honest I´m not interested to share the beach with a lot of drunken and screaming teens. Do you have any experiences or recommendation about this? |
I don't know about the home but I would recommend Cape Coral...way over Miami...Miami is so full of people...I did not like it at all....I go to Fort Myers every year to visit the folks....you would like Marco Island, Sanibelle, Capitiva Island - Cape Coral is ok too...Not much in Fort Myers except my folks...LOL...Have Fun!!! I would stay of the west coast of FL but that is me...

if you do end up in the Fort Myers area, be sure to visit the Thomas Edison museum... it's fascinating.

You definitely want to avoid spring break if you can. Looks like most college spring breaks in 2013 are in March. Found this listing on the net:

Went to Key West in Feb. this year. Wanted to get a far south for the heat. Had a great time. Have used vrbo ( in Hawaii) and it was great. Good luck.

And bring an extra (empty) suitcase to stock up on fabric!
