I spent a good part of the afternoon watching the whole series. I know that Superior threads has been discussed here before, but these videos are really worth watching.

This video shows a visual of how the adjustment described in the video above works. (It's for a long arm, but the adjustment is the same.) At about 0:50 to 2:08 The most important part is that there are 2 screws, usually you'll adjust the "largest" screw, and it should always (in my experience) the one closest to the middle of the tension spring. The other one is just to hold the spring in place.

Thank you for posting. I copied and emailed it to myself to watch later. I have been having trouble with my Janome machines tension so hopefully this will help figure out what is going wrong.

When I joined my guild one of the first things I learned from members was to use titanium top stitch needles and to match the needle to the thread. Most all the members use Superior brand threads. I was using a universal size 90/14 and thought a universal meant for all sewing. The best knowledge of needles and thread is from Superior Company. I have been using their needle and thread charts and have never had a tension or thread issue on my machine that wasn't self error or machine problem.

and really like it. Might have to give Superior Thread a try too.

These videos are Very well done, I like his examples and the way he busts a lot of old myths. Excellent information from Dr. Bob.
