How did it take me this long?

I finally sewed my finger today. That would probably have been enough, but I instinctively pulled my finger away, which effectively ripped the side of the [pointer] finger away. I did not get blood on the quilt, however, which should get me a few 'positive' points to offset the negative.

Anyone else done this? [the foregoing typed with one finger with large glass of white wine alongside]

Fortunately, no, but give me time and it shall be done!

A small amount of blood on a quilt is supposed to be good luck!

Yes, I did this about a month ago. It is still a bit tender. I am more careful now.

I must be very lucky -- before the Clover Clips I never bound a quilt without bloodshed!

The exact same thing!! I guess the instinct is to pull your finger away from the pain but it does more damage. The good news is.....you only do it once.

Sorry to hear your misfortune, but as you say, at least you didn't get any blood on the quilt!
Many years ago, when I was in school, a fellow student stitched the needle right into her finger tip, from the nail side. The needle stopped, (because it hit the bone) and she screamed.
Of course, the whole class was startled and the teacher ran back to her, calmly turned the needle up by turning the hand wheel and said " and that class, is why I am always telling you to watch where your fingers are"
Looking back, I admire that teacher's calmness!

I did it with my longarm a few months ago...thought I was gonna have a cow! It was my left index finger and after I sewed on it, I tried to pull it out...was successful, but boy, oh boy, did I pay for it! Fun!!!

I did the exact same thing a few months ago.
