Help ??

I have a featherweight and yesterday while sewing I heard a "clink" and now it is froze up. The closest repair shop is an hour away and I will not be able to get there for at least 2 weeks. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what the heck happened? Thank you ........:)

Checked everything-- can't see a thing wrong :(

Or maybe misaligned bobbin case and the needle got stuck. Can you manually move it? Try to move it slowly and see what happens. Is the motor running?

Needle is up-- have had the bobbin and bobbin case out several times-- no problem there. I can hand turn the handle with no problem-but the needle will not go up and down...........does not move at all....

the connection between the handwheel going around and the needlebar going up and down exists inside the "face".

I would open that up to see what failed or came apart. (if i owned a featherweight i would do that and post a pic of what it should look like)

and here's the SERVICE MANUAL FOR FW .

I had that happen with mine once, too. What my son found wrong was the bolt/screw that connected to drive the feed dogs had come loose. He re-inserted and tightened the bolt/screw (I really can't remember which) and the machine was fine.

HHope it's something very simple.
