Irish Love ..... and the story of twelve lonely hearts!
5 Attachment(s)
In the beginning, there were twelve lonely hearts.
Created on a whim, with no plan. That was several years ago. They sat and sat in the orphanage. With hopes that "someday" that they might be part of a greater plan. Orphanage life was not kind for these lost souls, hidden away in a dark corner. Something had to be done! I gave myself a January goal to pay them a visit and make a plan so they could leave. I had no recollection as to how many there might be. There were twelve. Two blossomed to be known as Irish Love (see below) ...with this wall (or door) hanging developed from an idea, no pattern. Scrimp and save, and by the end, the background fabric left but a few crumbs. Not a lot more of the reds, either. The binding is extra wide, finishing at one inch, the same as the Irish Chain squares. (and it is square, straight and flat ... just a wonky photographer!) The quilting is a combo of outlining/SITD, scallops and FMQ. If you zoom in you might be able to get a look at my FMQ tossed hearts joined by a loopy/meander. But that was only two, and there were still ten, crying out, "What about me? me? me?" A new dive into my stash to find more coordinates. The white/red small print jumped out along with the obvious Valentine print. The top is made ... for now, simply called "Nine Hearts", though that might change. No backing in the stash, so a FART is to come with a goal to complete for Valentine's 2015. And now, one lonely heart remains .... stay tuned for the final episode! Thanks for looking ... and a Happy Valentine's Day to You!!!!!!!! |
What a happy story!

Thanks OKSGlad ... The basic hearts are 6" (finished). Irish Love finished at 23"x41" with the chain square finishing at one inch. You could definitely downsize this to your minis! :) NIne hearts will finish at 57" square. Can you see what Irish Love is hanging from? |
What a great story and two wonderful quilts. Could number 12 be a quilt label? A very important job after all, being responsible for all that information for future generations.
