Rattling. May be paranoid. It has happened before..the paranoia that is.
 

:) The paranoia comes and goes. I broke a needle the other day in a dreaded, 1600p trying to sew through a pin instead of over it fiasco. I get really freaked out over finding all of the needle pieces in case one decides to fall right into important machine parts.

Well, I feel like I am hearing an unusual rattling, that may have been there before, but I've gotten so worked up that I can't think straight. Is there a small amount of rattling in the bobbin case area for any of you when it needs oil?

Thanks for any thoughts you may have since I don't have a good question, just a lot of eye twitching and hand wringing.

Did your machine come with oil?
If so, then a drop of oil will never hurt.
If it did not come with oil, then you should not be adding it between servicing.

Then once you get thru this, you might want to try harder to not sew over, thru, under, around pins .... it definitely is not good for any machine.

If you have a small magnet you can use it to see if it will "catch" any small pieces. Worked for me!

Nammie of 7 can you use a magnet in a computerised machine? I've always been petrified of one going near the machine even the pin magnetic holder.

Does anyone know how the lipstick needle holder works.? I know a magnetos at the base but is that all?

If your machine is computerized, do not use a magnet.

I've also used the spray condensed air to clean my machine. Don't hold it too close to machine. Add a drop of oil, if your machine came with oil.

Thanks everyone. It came with oil which I use as the manual recommends. I will also try a little vacuum lightly and see. :)

Oh, please do not use the compressed air or blow into your machine ... as that can send lint, thread or tiny fabric pieces further in, and get trapped. Eventually it can build up and be jammed in there, and by not doing so, you can save on repair costs. Or as in KellyVs case, a broken needle may go further in and cause damage.

The technician at my dealer always emphasizes to use a vacuum only for cleaning a machine.
