LED light bulb for Singer Featherweight
Saw this ad and thought it was a great idea and was wondering if they are now being sold in the marketplace or if this is a specail modified invention by the seller.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SINGER-FEATH...item4ac79b1654 Anyone see these around anywhere?? Comments? The regular incandescent bulbs get so hot on the Featherweight 221s and can burn your hand at the slightest contact so I don't use it when sewing. I don't like the "stick on" LED lights that are mounted on the front of the machine and would prefer a bulb in the socket. |
First time I've seen one. Cool idea(no pun intended).

We almost never use our FW, and the other machines with the bayonet bulbs have a cage over them, so at that price I'll pass.
However ~~ when and if they bring out a version with the screw in base, I will be interested. I've got several machines that use that bulb that would really benefit from them. Joe |
Boy, I have been wondering about these bulbs ever since I saw one on ebay. Here's hoping someone chimes in with some experience with one. They are pricey though. Also wonder how long they last???

I never get that close to my lights. But won't pay that much for a little light unless it has a lifetime warranty outside the life of the machine. If anything I have a couple desk lights with goose neck lamps that I can move all around.

If I was sewing exclusively on my Featherweight, it might be worth it to me - the burn scars from my youth are finally faded..... those lights are HOT! :-(

Very pricy for a lightbulb, but if your having trouble with burning your skin on the old kind....think about how much your skin is worth.

I sent an email to the vendor to ask the lifespan of the bulb, and below is his comment. I also recommended that he update the website to reflect this information. He responded that he did. He also indicated that he had 99% satisfaction from customers. This might help you decided whether to purchase the bulb.
"The manufacturer states 100,000+ hours lifespan, which is over 10 years of operation." |
