Glue instead of pinning
 

I know a lot of people use Elmer's to baste - I tried it once, but didn't have a skinny needle dispenser so the glue got gloppy. Then I saw this tutorial on using glue instead of pins when piecing, and figured I'd give it another go. I'm so happy I did!!! I bought the little needle dispenser at my LQS (it was a kit with two needles and fabric glue), and it's amazing. I'm working on a small project and I love that I can glue all my blocks together and sew without stopping to pin. AND it keeps the fabric from shifting!

I love it for pinning long seams as in joining rows on a quilt. I always used to dread this part, but it's a breeze with the glue. I don't have the narrow tip - I just use a tiny amount out of the original bottle.

I have not used the Elmer's glue but I did use the spray adhesive to baste my quilt. Best idea ever. It has stayed and not been a problem at all. Will I do it again. You betcha.

I want to try the starch idea too. I think it might be even better. Will post when I do it and what my results are.

I love the quilting spray adhesive. Buy it when I am at Joann's with a 50% coupon.

I use the school glue sticks...for me they are easier than the bottle...goes on purple, but vanishes ,even on white, and washes right out..because it dries it doesn't gum up the needles on the machine, too. I just love the glue sticks for accuracy and ease of use!

Your computer may just not recognize Purple Daisies, but they're a legit site.

I fill a small syringe with glue to place tiny dots and thin lines of glue. It's the only way I baste, I'll never go back to thread or pin basting.
