How to quilt this deer panel?

1 Attachment(s)
I bought this panel recently to make a wall hanging for my DS. I think it looks a little dull and needs to have a little sparkle added to it. I was thinking of just following the lines in the panel with some type of thread that had a little sheen to it, not metalic. Which or what type of thread should I buy? I will be quilting it on my DSM. I can only do meandering FMQ at this time. Any advice would be appreciated.
I know I can't do the wonderful things that Mary Katherine and Jillnjo do yet.

If you want some glow in the water, try Glitter hologram thread by Superior. When the light hits it it glows.

I would use some embroidery thread like Isacord, Sulky or Glide. I think that you can probably get Sulky from Joann's on a small spool. I used some of Superior's Magnifico recently to quilt something - I was very happy with the way it looked, just gave a small shimmer. These also work really well for quilting on either DSM or LA

A friend had this same panel. She cut it and added sashings to make it appear as though you were looking through a window. It was stunning. She used a black fabric for the window.I would cut off the brown. Cut the picture 3 sq. across by 4 sq.down. Add the window then put the brown stripes back on with a black sq. at the corners.just an idea judy j

I would use a quilting pattern that resembled trees in a forest.

I would outline the deer (maybe put a little extra batting behind them like a fake trapunto), do your meandering stitch in the water to make it flowing (put some pop with a sparkly thread) and then draw (or trace a template made from a coloring book) leaves and put them where you think they will look good.

Rayon machine embroidery thread has a bit of sheen.

Thank you for your wonderful suggestions. I am out the door for Joanns right now!

I cut leaves out of the white fabric and appliqued them all over the entire quilt. It made it appear as if leaves were falling in the forest all around the deer.

I love all of your artistic minds, and you each looked at the panel and saw something different!!
