Tension issue with Singer 15-91

3 Attachment(s)
Hello fellow board members...

I am having a tension issue with my Singer 15-91. It worked fine when I purchased it at the beginning of this summer from a local gentleman who refurbishes and sells them on Craigslist. It has sat in my sewing area since then and not been fiddled with since transported; and this is my first attempt to sew with it. The top thread is showing on the bottom when it stitches and I get the same results testing both cotton and sweater wool. Changing the upper tension doesn't change a thing no matter what setting it's on (0 through 9). I think I have the thread path correct and have the thread traveling through the needle right to left. Help please with advise :)

Your thread is not between the top tension disks, it's behind them. Rethread it completely.
From the guide at the top rear of the face plate the thread goes between the disks from the back side and then around to the front side catching the hook then the spring then the take up lever.

Good catch Joe, I completely missed it. I need to go get a Pepsi(I don't drink coffee).

I thought so but my eyes aren't good enough even with the enlarged picture to be sure.
Good spot Joe.

Agree -- nice one, Joe.

Now I know how to thread my 15 machines. :)

LOL, until you go to thread one that has that little bar to the right of the tension. I can do it, but every time I try to tell someone else how to do it I get it wrong.

Wow, Joe. You can see really good. I sure didn't see that.

You've got good eyes. I can't even see it even with enlarged pic. Good job.

lol Yeah, I think I have one of those! I'm still not used to the tension/takeup on the nose plate. I love 15s, though.
