Incredible Gift

My daughter-in-law's aunt moved from a large house to a mobile home in a senior living park. In the process of moving she totally got rid of her sewing/quilting room and supplies.

I was the recipient of the quilting supplies. She had projects ready to begin - all fabrics purchased and the pattern organized together - and all gifted to me!

The photo below does not do it justice.

In many ways as I went through the boxes (there were 10 paper boxes that I consolidated into the 4 1/2 eighteen gallon plastic tubs) I was sadden as much as I was elated. So many creations she never had the opportunity to finish!

A lesson to us all!

Merry Christmas for years of quilting to come. So fortunate she thought of you. She knew you would take care of it.

I know what you mean, but I'm sure that she is happy knowing her fabric went to a good home!

It went to a home that it will be used and loved - that is all we can ever ask for. Congrats and happy quilting

How bittersweet! Enjoy and create on her behalf!

Congratulations on the new additions to your stash. Will look forward to seeing what you make with this haul. This does make me think about all the fabric I have that is just resting in the tubs. Guess I had better get busy.

Truly a wonderful gift which you will put to good use just as she wanted! My stash will outlive me and hope that there will be many who will benefit from my quilt stuff when I can no longer quilt or wish to.

I know what you mean. It would be very hard for me to give up my sewing supplies and fabrics but she does have to comfort of knowing that someone who will appreciate them, received them. Too many times we see things going out in the trash or the burn pile and that is the real heartache. You could finish one of her projects and gift her with it. She would love that, I'm sure.

I was thinking the exact same thing - finish or make a quilt for her for her new home! Enjoy all of it as she would want you to!

it's good that she could pass it on to a quilter
