When FMQ with metallic thread what needle and tensions should be used? TIA.

A metallic needle and adjust tension to suit your own machine, the tension is different on every machine.

Yes, use a metallic needle. Start out with normal tension, then gradually loosen if needed. The big thing to consider is how the thread comes off the spool. You might want to use a thread stand and may need a net.

You will need to adjust the tension, use a metallic needle that have a larger eye and get some lubricant sold at JAF called Sewer's Aid found in the notion section.

I agree with larger needle eye and, preferably, a metallic needle. If you have the ability to do so, slow your machine down. Also give your thread a long thread path to remove any kinks in it. On a domestic embroidery machine, you can put the spool in a glass and put it a foot or two away from the normal spot the thead sits.

Also so note that if you aren't successful, don't give up! There are lots of metallic thread brands, and some work better than others. I have used a number of different ones, but I prefer Yenmet. YMMV.
