I think it's made by putting a flying geese strip between the HST. ? It's an old quilt.

Either that, or the blocks are half light and half dark with a (double) flying geese strip down the center of the two half square triangles. You'd have to look at it closely to see which way it was constructed. I don' know the pattern name off hand

It looks like an hourglass done in the brown and white and the flying geese are sashing, and if you notice, the sashing makes a pinwheel as a corner stone.

I think I have seen this as a block pattern but don't recall the name. Can look in my book tonight or you may be able to find it on Quilter's cache.

Thanks Groucho. It is one way to make the Ocean Waves quilt pattern. I found the info by searching Ocean Waves.

It's called birds in the air...old pattern. It is all in the placement of the blocks. Here is an example...scroll down the page and you will see it. http://kissedquilts.blogspot.com/201...-aqs-book.html

I was going to say that - I love Quilter's Cache and have found so many patterns in that collection of patterns and instructions. Edie

You have a good eye for a pattern! I only saw the hourglass and flying geese after I read your note! Now it looks do-able! Thanks!
