yo-yo quilt
I have been researching directions for making a yo-yo quilt, and happened along this one. I think it is a little different than any others I have seen. The yo-yo is sewn onto a plain quilt. Very pretty. http://tinyurl.com/krs92xw

That is really nice - very textural as well as pretty colors. And it is more stable than a traditional yo-yo quilt.

On my list... My sister wants one so she has been helping make the yoyo's
|
From the pics looks like it is just a coverlet......yoyos sewed to background and that's it........
The yoyos I'm working on occasionally comes from a mag design..a few years back, .they will be sewed onto strips of fabric....one color solid, then alternated with strips of another solid......these are all same size...clover yoyo maker, scrappy.......someday, maybe..... |
That is really cute

Amy butler has one. I made that for my Granddaughter. Also made a matching sheet for her toddler bed.

My grandmother used to make 'summer comforters' as she called them. Dressed up a bed but weren't heavy, back then, air conditioners were unheard of in most places, especially farm houses. She used a plain white sheet and did the above, hand sewed cotton yo yo's to it. No fabric of any kind was wasted. Many of the yo yo's came from clothing no longer used because spotted or stained. If it was still good to wear, those items were donated. All the farm beds had
summe comforters. |
I love how it is done like that.

The one in the picture looks like sea anemones on the beach. I like this version. Thanks for sharing!

Ideas, QB members on how the edges are finished. Looks like two layers of fabric sewn together. What do you think? |
