Faux Chenille

Has anyone tried this technique? If so, would love to see picts and get your thoughts..

I made one large block and it was too tedious for me to make more then one. I used the block as pillow top.

Do you mean the layers of flannel that are sewn in 1/2 inch diagonal lines and then cut? If so there are several chenille blankets posted on QB.

I did - I used 3 layers of flannel for the back of a baby quilt - then quilted diagonal lines about 3/4 to one inch apart then sliced the first couple of layers between the quilted lines. It makes this soft fringy layer - when you wash it- its really nice and soft. If you google it you will find many tutorials for it too. Good luck.

I made one square also and then added a zipper and made a small purse out of it. I keep my crochet needles in it.

There is a nice example in Judith1005 post titled .....Little Girl's Nursery. She has a pretty Chevrom quilt, pillows and chenille blanket at the bottom of that post. Try putting the title in the search box.

I have only made a sample square (it was not even a block) to see if I liked it or not. Well, I do like it & think it would fit in good somewhere on a baby quilt as they love tactile things. But, I'm not sure if I will ever get something like that made.
