We're never in the right state!

LOL! seriously. I see posts/ads for machines (here, craigslist, different facebook groups, etc) and think 'wow all the good treadles and machines are in Minnesota, Oregon, Washington...' then someone in Minnesota says Missouri and another posted the other day that she was going to have to plan a trip to Texas (where I am!) to find the good stuff! :o too bad these suckers are so heavy and costly/impossible to ship!

also saw several along the south and boy I've been tempted to make a road trip LOL!

What state are you in??

Grass is greener! I don't see them in MN or ND but the Goodwill in the Willamette Valley, OR always has vintage machines for sale, but often without the bobbin case.

I see good machines here. I've posted a few of them. I've also seen a lot of very nice machines elsewhere. I think it's a case of the grass being greener. It's regrettable that shipping is such a killer these days.

Well, I just went to the Houston Craigslist and searched for "singer sewing." I saw recent ads for a Singer 500, 401, a Featherweight, a frozen Featherweight, and, my favorite, a "sowing mushn." Yes, I always search for "sowing" also.

Yes, some of them were priced too high, but that's part of the game. Make an offer and if they don't accept it, wait a week or two and try again. Maybe with a lower offer.

I rarely see anything here and when I do it is either in very poor condition or way overpriced or both. That's why when people ask for machine recommendations and the suggestion is to get a vintage one I say be prepared for a long search if you live in a place that doesn't have very many.

In the South I think that part of the problem with treadles and cabinets is that the wood just doesn't hold up. I'm thinking of the machines people don't want to store in the house.
I think I could be wrong . Rodney would have trouble finding them in the moist north west also. We do seem to have a bunch in MN.
