Hanging sleeve sewn into the binding
I don't know why I never thought of this method before but I just love this tute. I don't know about anyone else but I hate sewing hanging sleeves to the back of small quilts and this method makes it so much easier and it hangs straight when finished.
I hope it helps someone to try this method. http://www.nationalquilterscircle.co...a-wall-003665/ |
Thanks for sharing. I have seen people with quilts done this way, but didn't know the technique.

looks easy and I probably will do it next time

I think that it is a great idea, but I would use a piece of a yard stick, or flat trim instead of a dowel that would wobble back and forth on a nail. With a flat piece you could center a saw tooth hanger in the middle.

This is a great method for small WHings. I use it all the time. I also like to do sleeves and dowels. I paint and decorate the hanging dowel ends that show to coordinate with the quilt. This gives a finished look to a piece of art.
I like both methods. peace |
Great idea, thanks for sharing!

I have used this method and have even put the triangles on all 4 corners when I think I'd like to change how it hangs. I also use a flat piece of wood now so the quilt hangs closer to the wall.

My last small quilt was done this way, but I traded the dowel for a small half round so it would be closer to the wall. I saw the idea here a few years ago when I was still a "lurker". It is mounted using a couple push pins in the wall. Still in place.

I have sewn the sleeve into the binding on several of my smaller ones. It's definitely easier than doing on the back, which I had to do for a king size quilt that I entered in a show.
