Hexagons

I like having little hand projects to do and I picked up some 1" sided plastic hexagon templates at a show. They are just like doing EPP but reusable. I dipped into my batiks and made this little table topper as my first hex project. Really enjoyed piecing it.

I birthed it and FMQ on my domestic. Holy cow, I haven't done domestic FMQ in years and I was never very good at it (which is why I got a LA). This little project reminded me how much I did not enjoy FMQ on my domestic and demonstrated that what I have in LA mojo I definitely lack in domestic FMQ mojo :D I bow to those of you who do it and do it well. I will never get there but that's ok I have gotten there on the LA. This little topper was hardly worth loading plus I wanted a knife edge finish instead of binding which I don't know how I would do that on the LA. It's done and that is good and it will be used, which is even better.

Very cute! I find that FMQ on my machine is difficult along the edge of smaller pieces. There is no where to put my hands to smoothly move the piece. I sometimes baste a piece of waste fabric around the perimeter so I have something to hang on to. You did a nice job.

What a great job. Would not have thought of quilting them like you did. I often do the 1/4" seam on the inside.

You did an excellent job on a project that is difficult at best.
