How would you quilt this?

It will be done FMQ on my DSM.
What type of thread would you use?
I've never done a quilt before that didn't have borders. Do you think it needs borders?

Thanks, Watson

Great pattern, love the colors you chose. I would put a white sashing border all the way around the same width as the white in the quilt to "contain" the colors. Then I would piece the binding in the same colors if you have any left over. An all over puzzle piece stipple would look great. But then it's my favorite pattern for quilting. What's the name of the pattern, I think I have a jelly roll calling for this one.

I agree with toverly. I would not put a dark border, just an additional white row, then a scrappy binding which will frame it. Usually, if the piecing is straight, I go with curved quilting. Swirls or loops would be good and I would just use white thread.
Fun, happy looking quilt!

to me they all need at least one border

This turned out great! I think a white border would look nice, and an allover curvy quilting design.

I love the quilt and the colors are beautiful. I agree that it needs a white border-that would look nice. No idea on quilting it as I always send my quilts out to be quilted. Good luck on your decision.

What is that pattern called?

I was going to say the same thing... one round of white so the colors 'float' rather than run into the binding. It doesn't have to be any wider than the other white strips on the top. It won't look like a border.

This is a great top! Perfect for an all-over quilting design. Something curvy, to contrast the straight lines in the piecing.

It turned out beautiful!! Congrats on a gorgeous quilt. Agreed that a white additional border would look great!

Beautiful quilt. I agree, a white border will make the blocks shine. No ideas for quilting though.
