EQ7 on Linux?

I had EQ7 on my Windows laptop. My hard drive crashed so my son installed a new hard drive. I haven't been able to load Windows as I live in the country and the download takes so long (and my internet connection blinks on and off). My son loaded Linux on the new hard drive and I like it, but can't get EQ7 to work. Does anyone know how to get EQ7 to run on Linux? I went on the EQ website and they sell a "patch" to make the Windows version run on a Mac or a Mac version on Windows, but nothing for Linux. Help!

Linux often has Windows emulators... have your son install one... run the emulator and see if it will recognize the program... otherwise, go to Staples.com and get a cheap refurbished computer, usually less than $150 for a decent model that will easily run EQ7

If you are a registered user of EQ7, send a message to tech support (include your ID#). Penny may answer your question and she is very good at giving a solid answer. They are located in Ohio.

See if your son installed an emulator called "WINE", I don't know if it can run EQ7 on Linux but they do use it to run some office programs and it might be worth trying...

Yes, look for an emulator. Also, if Penny says it won't work, don't take that as a final answer. She may not really know for certain. She told me that I wouldn't be able to use old original BLOCKBASE blocks with EQ7 and I found a way to do it pretty easily.

Good luck!

this is interesting! i have wanted to upgrade from eq6 to eq7 but just haven't gotten around to it yet. i have always prefered blockbase to the eq library. could you pm me on how you got the two to work together? summer's almost over & i'll be inside on my pc & sewing machine again soon. looking forward to aquireing & using eq7 but i must be able to access blockbase with it! thanks

You didn't say what version of Windows you want to install. For older versions (before 10) you can probably find a copy of the Windows files very cheaply, if you have the product key from your original Windows installation. Here's an example for Windows 7 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/WINDOWS-7-En...1%26rkt%3D1%26

Being a Linux user, I would be interested to know if you manage to make EQ7 work
with Linux.

I have WINE installed, but it won't run EQ7. I contacted tech service for EQ and they just told me EQ7 will not work on Linux. I may have to go back to windows. Until then, I'll see if I can find another emulator.
