Hello,

I am completely new to quilting and don't quite have all of the terminology memorized just yet. But am starting my first quilt for two of my four girls. I plan to have it done by Christmas as a goal and one of their presents as well. This is the project that I'm starting: https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/kit...uilt-kit/39815
I know I will have lots of questions and hope to learn the easiest and quickest way.

Very cute. A word of advice, careful cutting and careful piecing will be your best friend. My mom used to say, 1/8" off soon becomes 1/4" off which becomes a 1/3" off....(you get the picture). No matter what, be kind to yourself. And finish. Your daughters will love the outcome and feel the love you put into them. I still consider myself a confident intermediate quilter. (I've been quilting for 8 years.)

As mentioned above, cut carefully and keep to your 1/4" seams and that will help a lot. Some people even cut a little big and trim down.
As a first step, my advice is to get a good board and rotary cutter and find a video that teaches you how to straighten your material on the grain before cutting. I know Leah Day has a video about it.

Welcome from Missouri - you have certainly picked a very ambitious quilt for your first. But, if you have done garment sewing for your girls you should do OK - just remember that we use 1/4 inch seam allowances.

You've chosen a pretty pattern. As others have said, accurate cutting and sewing are essential, but you will never be perfect, so don't berate yourself for errors. And welcome from the beautiful mountains of western NC.

Bottom line is, quilting isn't rocket science... it's hard to mess it up. You will learn more with every quilt you make. Just jump in and start doing. And enjoy!!
