Janome 6600 - how heavy duty?
 

I have a Janome 6600 and I love it. My nephew asked me if I could modify his holster. Its some type of plastic material - like what Velcro is made of. But its thick like a belt.

He just asked if I could sew a 1" strip - then he could seam rip with his knife to remove the other stitching this will give him the ability to go smaller around the waist

do any of you know if the Janome 6600 is sturdy enough to sew this? I would be very sad if I broke my machine

Any thoughts?

Personally, if it holster is heavy, I'd send him to an upholstery shop. They have machines made to handle that type of material. It probably won't cost him much at all and it would save your machine.

Our small town still has a shoe repair shop. That or a leather crafting place might be able to help him. I would protect my machine if I were you.

I screwed up the timing on my 6600 when I sewed a quilted book together. The "book" was made up of 4 layers of W&N batting plus 8 layers of cotton fabric.

I wouldn't risk it.

I have the comparable Elna (made by Janome) and would not do this--an upholstery or shoe repair would be where I'd send him for this. Think it would mess with your timing on the 6600

Definitely not the machine for this job...I used to have this machine... You will damage it for sure...
