Tumbling blocks
 

How do I assemble my tumbling blocks into rows to make a quilt top?
i did my blocks with Y seams and now they are cubes.

Thanks to all with your suggestions but my blocks aren't in Rows, they are already Cubes
So I guess I'm asking how do I sew cubes into rows
I sewed 3 diamonds to make a block ( Cube ).

wow, spent a goodly amount of time searching and almost all info is for the 'easy' method/in columns. this link is not for tumbling blocks, but is helpful. first, sew each tumbling block to the next along the straight vertical edge. your rows will now look somewhat like the pic on the link page just after the trimmer picture. the follow pics show how to sew the rows together. http://www.walnutstreetquilts.com/ca.../bauble-along/

I think what you are saying is that you've joined them into blocks, which are hexagons. the only way I know of to join these are to continue with the Y seams. Lay the blocks out in the order you like. you should be able to determine rows going either horizontally or on an angle. These rows should have straight edges touching each other. Join these seams, which will make rows with jagged edges. Join the rows with y seams.

Yes I was finding the same most links were for the easy way!

Did you use 60 degree templates and epp??? Or are these machine sewn??? I did a traditional epp (english paper piecing) tumbler quilt using 60 degree diamonds and just joined side-to-side and top-to-bottom as I went.

Sew it the same way you would a Grandmother's Flower Garden. Sew one side of 2 cubes together which will form a Y seam for the next cube. You will have off set rows. When you get it to the size you want you will need to either trim the side cubes to form straight sides of sew in half cubes. Hope this makes sense.
