Does anyone know what this is?

Hope it's OK to ask here, although it's not a recipe. It does look like something that would be used in the kitchen, but I don't know what it is.

you put the raw pasta or crust circle on it, put filling in the center, and then close it to seal the edges. can't think of its name

It might be a pierogi press. I would put pie crust in it and make mini hand pies.

Oh, right! Thank you so much, QuiltnNan and Tartan!

*** That is what it is. In the South they are called Fried Pies (love them with apples). *** |
I have one very large one for fried pies. I use pre made pie crusts in the box. Fill with filling, wet the crust edges, fold over and crimp.
Filling my grandmother used: Cook cut up apples or peaches, simmer until soft and tender. Mash into thick paste. Add sugar, cinnamon and a little lemon juice. Fry pies in oil coated cast iron skillet until crust is golden brown. Or coat crust in melted butter and bake until golden brown . She used dried fruit with a little water to simmer. |
making me hungry girls!!!

Yep....so off you go and make something delish!
|
please report on flavor......I.m hungry.....

I bought mine several years ago in three sizes. They are used to make pierogies and ravioli. I also make mini fruit pies with them using store bought pie crust and canned fruit filling....easy and quick dessert!
