Elephant Parade

I volunteered to make a baby quilt for the daughter of a dear friend. We have been friends since second grade, even though she moved away in sixth. I asked the daughter her nursery colors etc. and she said they were decorating around a wall hanging they purchased in Thailand on their honeymoon, but were decorating around an elephant theme. I also knew her mom (my friend) had repainted a dresser/changing table white with navy drawer fronts, and the crib was a charcoal gray.
Here is the wall hanging they were decorating around: Finally found a navy, Bohemian type paisley that I thought would make a good background and went with different colored elephants, like the wall hanging. The batting is Hobbs 80/20 and the backing a thick gray Minkie, soft enough for tummy time on the floor. The elephant ears are 3 D. No pattern, just my crazy concoction. By the way, his name is Norwegian, like the daughter's paternal side. She received it yesterday and immediately emailed me that she was blown away. Hope that is a good thing LOL Her mom (my friend) posted pictures on Facebook for everyone to see, so guess it was. : ) |
