That 1/4 inch Seam

Glad I found it!
I am still working on the butterfly quilt and putting the last two sets of borders on it. The left side of the quilt measured 60 1/4 inches, the center measured 60 1/4 inches, but whoa Nellie, the right side measured 60 1/2. What happened? I just couldn't leave it like that. I didn't want any problems with the second border. Discovered one of the sashing seams barely caught the block fabric. A little bit of ripping and re-stitching later and all is well with the first border. It now measures 60 1/4 inch. A little fudge factor with the seam allowance to make it work. LOL. I promise more pictures when it is finished. |
Oh, I do love the soft, mottled grey and crisp white sashing with these pastel florals.

Getting that consistent seam allowance is always a challenge - even for the best of us. Try as I might, mine are not always perfect. I'm a perfect RIPPER though... LOL

looking good!

I know what you mean! I spent a good part of today ripping out stitches on flying geese and redoing 1/4” seams so they would match up with the blocks.

It's the size of the "finished" unit that matters - - -

It happens! I am a serial seam ripper! Lol

It may be boring but that perfect seam is the key to success!
I'm amazed though that you fixed a quarter inch difference from side to side. That's impressive! I mean, I'll fix a block but don't think I'd search out the issue over multiple blocks, but you found a weak seam before it found you so way to go! |
I bet most of us have the most experience with seam rippers than anything else! :D
Your quilt is lovely!!! |
Pretty quilt. The 1/4" difference wouldn't have bothered me enough to look for it. LOL
