Did you name your sewing machine(s)?

A big discussion at my latest sewing group meeting was the naming of our sewing machine(s). Some people do and others don't.

What did you name yours and what was the inspiration behind the name?

My white Featherweight is named Tally because she came from Tallahassee, FL.

Mine are named old one, used one, new one, quilting one, kid one, spare one, class one. LOL

Of course! My old Remington is known as Remy. The Bernina is Bernie... I haven't decided whether Bernie is male or female, being a machine it's rather gender fluid.

The Pfaff I used to long arm on is named Gertrude, she has a "Gertrude's Room" plaque on the door even.

Love it! Yeah, I am similar. I call them by their model number or make if I only have one from that brand, 15-91, 201, 66, Pfaff, plastic Brother, White Rotary.... My Hubby is very well educated and knows exactly which one I'm referring too.

The only machines I name are my Featherweights. I have 12 at the moment. They each have a name tag on their case that goes with them everywhere. Love my little FWs.

My naming is a bit generic. I have a Brother Sewing Embroidery Combo that is named Big Brother. I have a travel, less expensive, simple, no embroidery Brother called Little Brother. Not much imagination here.

I don't name my machines (I have 2). My car does not have a name either. Many moons ago when I was in High School it was the going thing to name our cars. I never had a car in High School but my older brother named his car the "Green Goose" because it was green & he was always honking at friends. :)

My primary machine (Singer 201) I inherited from my mother and it was already named after her serviceman who kept it running for so many years, so to keep up with her tradition of naming machines, my featherweight was named after my mother, my longarm after my grandmother. Then I bought an inexpensive portable sewing machine from Walmart that I named "ElCheapo"

My all purpose machine is just Miss Elna. My piecing and FMQ machines, a pair of 301s, are AnnieRose and ErinRose. The machines not in use are not named - except maybe, "What was I thinking?" I need to get rid of some, for sure.

While reading this post I came up with a name for my machine - Alice. When sitting at her I certainly go down the proverbial rabbit hole. I hadn’t found one that fit yet but I’ve always talked to her like she has one.
