Masks

I just made a new batch of masks this week. Yes, they can buy them on line but I had requests for certain fabrics for a bit of fun. Any one else still doing masks?

Funny thing ... This week I was thinking about making some new ones!
Fall themed, of course! :)

Anyone, notice the LQS' discounting their assorted mask fabrics, supplies, etc.?
I'd been thinking for awhile ... are you sure folks?
Sure enough with Delta, we're right back into need!!
Wonder if any of those stores have regrets?

I am into mask making again. Glad I saved all the supplies.

I never stopped making masks because I make them year 'round for the children with CHD up in Massachusetts. I was making them before Covid & am continuing to make them. I will keep making them until I no longer have any kid friendly fabric. The kid friendly fabrics are so much fun for the kids.
I took a break for 2 months but have started cutting them out again & will send some off in October.

I really, really didn't want to make anymore of them, but like how the Jesse mask feels and fits. Well, you know, kind of like if you say you like how a bra feels and fits - it's "if I have to" then that's the one. Now that we're wearing them in stores again, I probably need a couple more. DH still works, so already has enough for every day.

I don't love them, but I sure did like that we had a lot less colds - none, actually - last year. Bonus - we went to the state fair yesterday (weather was perfect and attendance has been very low, so no lines or crowds anywhere) and the parking lot had clouds of dust as cars went by. Just put my mask on and no breathing in the dust!

I still have some that I made before the disposable became easier to find. So now I have plenty!
Here's my little girl at Costco.

I figure at least here in Washington, we are going to be wearing masks until next flu season, I'm figuring maybe around Februrary 2022... so I'm looking at making some more or more accurately, finishing up a couple I didn't do the ear loops. I actually rather like using the bias binding and ties instead of the ear loops, but sometimes different masks work better for different things so I am going to buy a big marked down pack of plain black ones as well.

Because of the people who couldn't follow the guidelines of only going maskless if immunized, we are back at wearing masks indoors and recommended outdoors in crowds. Certain events, like our large State Fair are mandatory masks outdoors.

I just pulled out yesterday some printed fabrics for mask that I got from QIAD. I bought them on sale for pennies and thought about giving them as handouts at our new quilt guild. Now I am thinking about making some of them up for personal use. Mask making is picking up again everywhere. In early August I lost 2 family members to the Delta variant so what ever protection I can provide to those around me I will do.

My sister in law started needing them at work again, so I made her a couple, and a couple of cute ones for me while I had the supplies out. A friend wants a couple for when she travels on a plane next month. People like my masks, so I’ll keep my “mask kit” handy.

I wore a KN95 over the summer and with the cooler weather, I am back to a cloth mask with a paper (procedure) mask underneath. I don't feel the cloth ones provide enough protection by themselves. I suppose they are better than no mask. I made a ton of masks last year when the disposable ones were hard to find, but I don't believe they are hard to find anymore.
