Cathedral Window tips. Do you have some?

I want to make a cathedral widow quilt using some Bandana half yard cuts.

Made this pattern years ago but can't find the pattern. I think it gets really heavy but did you guys use batting or just the fabric.

Can't wait for the tips.

Long ago, I made a cathedral window pillow and many Christmas ornaments. I never used batting as it's heavy enough. I have heard that people use these quilts as summer quilts, and I think, with all the work involved, they are better used decoratively anyway. Enjoy your journey with these - hope to see pictures!

Catheral Window tips.

The batting helps pad the bulky seams. Use a lightweight poly fill if you are concerned about the weight, Even with open seams and good pressing there will be bulk, thefore batting helps soften those lumps.

Missouri Quilts has a cathedral windows video she did a couple years ago. I made a small one to try it out as I'd never made one before. With her instructions you can make the blocks any size you want. I'm now making a queen size bed quilt and boy is that a job in itself. Still trudging along on it but need to get it finished to give to a couple before they leave the area. The smaller one was so much easier. I even took it to the quilt frame and quilted parts of it afterwards. Since I took it to the quilt frame I'm sure I added batting another backing but used muslin since it was just a quilt for me.
