Janome 6600 to 6700
 

I have had my Janome 6600 for many years and have had very good luck with it. Just looking at upgrading to the 6700. Has anyone done so and what are you thoughts.

i have the Janome 6700 D and love it...the automatic threader works sometimes..but very fanicky...why they bother to put one on haven't the slightest idea..it sews like a dream and can do letters and numbers, which I like for labels on my quilts..I have had mine for about 6 months now...I would really recommend it..I had a small Janome that I was using, made several quilts on it, and never was in for repair..that little machine was a workhorse and I think I paid $149 for it ...kept it of course..it was the reason I went for another Janome...Hope you find one you can try before you buy.

I have also had my Janome 6600 Professional for about 10 years and never had a problem with it. I clean it myself so it has never been serviced. I put a drop of sewing machine oil in the little wick hole in the bobbin case every time I clean it. Love mine.

I too have never had issues with my 6600. Professionally cleaned yearly. Looking at added features on 6700 such as easy to change plates and the accufeed change and better lighting. Thank you for your responses.

I have the Janome 6600 and I like it. The self threading needle doesn't work for me. The only machine I had with a great needle threader was a Baby Lock. The only problem I have with the 6600 is that the thread knots around the take up lever and of course the needle becomes unthreaded. Have any of you Janomers had this problem or any tips to fix it?

The self threading has always worked for me on the 6600 but not on the 9400. Regarding the thread knotting I would suggest you
bring your thread on the left side of the take up lever instead of
right side. It will make a loop around the take up lever and that
should solve your problem. Lots of Janome users have this
problem and this usually solves it.

I have a 6600 which works beautifully. I have to admit I wouldn’t consider buying a new machine until this one breaks. It doesn’t seem like you get many more usable features in the 6700. My threaderworks great.

I put my money towards a sit down longarm machine.

I've been working my 6600 hard for years and it continues to perform beautifully. One day, picking it up in the shop from a regular servicing, I spotted the 8900 and couldn't resist the larger throat. Now I have both and use the 8900 primarily but there are a number of things that the 6600 does best and I still use it. My recommendation would be to consider carefully the reasons for a change. Also, list the features you like best about the 6600 and make sure your new machine has them.
