How to move forward with this

Yesterday I pulled two fabrics out of the chest of drawers where my fabric is stored, each piece measures 1 yard. Cutting
each into 4 1/2" squares to make HST measuring a 4 " finished size. Now I have a total of 110 HST already sewn. Sounded like a plan to me anyway. But now the blocks appear dull to me. They need to be jazzed up. Thought about Kona Snow and pink flying geese between the rows, but not sure. I'm open to suggestions. Help!!

I am no help, but I see the beginning of a beautiful low volume quilt! Some pale/soft pinks and some soft whites.

Those are pretty, but yes, I'd add the pink and green somehow to enliven it a bit.

I think "low volume" and "gray" seem to be "a thing" this year.

It is subdued, but I also think it is pretty.

Since 'low volume' equals 'low interest' in my head, I would also jazz it up with some stronger, brighter colours. You have yellow, pink-light and dark, as well as green and even black, to play with. I will be interested in seeing how you solve your dilemma.

I would sew them into pinwheels. Yes, un-sew the squares from each other. Use 100 of the squares to make 25 pinwheels. Set into an arrangement of 5 x 5. Then sew a pink 2.5” border around the whole thing. Or put a thin 1” frame around each pinwheel.

I would use them as background squares with something brighter in the middle. maybe something pink appliqued on top or a centerpiece pink star pieced into it
take these for inspiration

Not much help from me except to say I love the gray fabric. I bought the same at Walmart and have used it in a few different blocks. It works with most all colors.

I like JennyPenny's idea of pinwheels. If you make half of the pinwheels spin each direction, you can alternate them with four-patches of one brighter fabric and one "low volume".

How big a quilt do you want? Make 16 patches of scrap charms (use 2.5 strip piece to increase speed). You have enough HSTs to make 12 stars with 16 patch centers. Sashing is nice to separate the stars if desired
The stars are 16" so 3x4 layout makes min 48x64 before sashing or border.
