LQS sticker shock.
The LQS got a new shipment of fabric and pre cuts. One layer cake I immediately wanted until I saw the price. $78. Jelly roll of the same fabric line $68. I looked online and the layer cake is $69 on sale. Oh my goodness. What are the fabric lines thinking? Quilters will buy no matter how much it cost as long as it has a top designer name?

Wow! What designer/fabric line? I'm still seeing high 30 - low 40 with the occasional $45.
At those prices they'll have to change the name to Crazy Cakes. |
Hometown for Tilda fabrics. LQS owner was gushing over the Scandinavian designer. I think I'll be buying no designer fabrics from now on. The fabric didn't feel better then other fabrics but I liked the colors used.

I hate to say it, but with coming of the rising prices on a lot of fabric, due to who knows what it will be blamed on....
I think quite a few quilters will have no choice, but not to buy, instead we'll be hitting our stashes even harder. So, I can see a lot of the smaller quilting stores and businesses suffering and possibly going out of business, which will hurt us that love quilting. Especially when our stashes dwindle down to the bare shelves. The prices of notions and machines seem to be going up as well. Hopefully things change for the better. It seems like once prices go up, they don't come back down. |
It's so funny, I think everyone has their price point that they won't go over. I agree, those prices are outrageous. But what to do. If I loved it and it was a special quilt for someone, maybe. For me, no.

yes, even JoAnn's is going out of business. Makes me feel old!

I've stopped buying precuts. Too messy for me. However, I'm addicted to FQ's.
I wouldn't pay that much for any precut. |

Okay, looked this up and JoAnn's apparently is planning on closing some stores, but they are not going out of business. Ksdk news |

I love precuts but I have a price limit even on value. Like the old 80's ad: Its not that I can't buy you a $40 sweatshirt, I won't buy you a $40 sweatshirt. (Mom talking to a young boy)
