Hi!

I'm a new quilter from St. Louis, MO! Any tips for beginner quilts would be helpful!

Welcome from South Louisiana. I Googled good quilts for a beginning seamtress. This is one of the websites that is suggested.

Welcome from South Texas! You are in the right place if you need advice!!

Sampler blocks are always a great way to try new techniques and get confident with sewing your quilt tops. There are some excellent bloggers out there that can show you some fun and easy quilts to make that won't take much time. I recommend you peek at free patterns found at Jordan Fabric's video tutorials https://jordanfabrics.com/pages/videos-tutorials, or the Quilted Twins https://www.quiltedtwins.com/free-patterns.htm. A great site for more sometimes complicated free quilt patterns is https://quiltville.blogspot.com/p/free-patterns.html.

If you are looking for free block patterns just type in "free quilt block patterns" in your search engine and you'll find a ton of sites. This is a good one: https://www.quilterscache.com/QuiltBlocksGalore.html

My favorite block for beginners because it has few corners to match up perfectly and it always looks good is a churn dash block. There are tons of sites online and videos on how to make it.

We love to help. We love to see what you make. Welcome to the board. Tons of great tutorials in here, too.

As a new quilter I recommend you start with something small. A table runner or sofa throw perhaps to hone your skills. Do not choose a king size quilt as your first project. LOL Remember accurate cutting and piecing makes your blocks go together smoother and with less hair tearing.:-) Others have already suggested patterns for beginners and those are a good place to begin. Have fun!

Welcome to the board. You'll find lots of tips and inspiration here.
I lived in St. Louis for several years back in the 80s. Loved it because there was so much to do in the area and everybody was so nice.

Welcome from SW Iowa. I mostly read here since I have not been quilting for some time. I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do.
