Vintage quilt top

I found this unique quilt top at a fall festival this weekend, looks like maybe from 1950s by fabric. Mainly shirting. Only one center section done, pic included. Does anyone know this pattern? Thanks for your help.

That was a fun find. Do you plan to finish it? Sorry, I don't have any ideas about the pattern. Surely, someone will jump in here pretty soon with a idea.

I can't tell what the circles are made of, but to me it looks like a simple pinwheel block with circle appliques on the corners and centers. https://www.seasonedhomemaker.com/ho...l-quilt-block/
Do the points meet on the back side? |
you can name it a pinwheel dresden :-)

I also vote for pinwheel with an applique center ...those yet to be made it seems. Maybe the original maker hated to join the seams in the middle as I do (can't twirl seams with a darn) and so decided to put an applique there to avoid a lump in the middle of each one. Genius idea if you ask me!!

I can see it now, someone started it, did the easy part, and after they finished one center section, boom! - UFO pile. I used to see this a lot with Grandmother's Flower Garden tops when I was dealing in antique quilts. It's tough to figure out how to finish them.
Another vote for simple shape to cover the center, get it done! |

I am planning on finishing. After more research, the fabrics maybe from 1930s. Fabric in good condition, a few stains. Maker obviously used what was available, not the prettiest 🙂. It is large (69" x 95"), odd to me that it would be joined together without centers completed. Center is handsewn (rest is machine sewn) and attached from the bottom ??

Oh the photo was taken while the quilt was on a rug. That explains what looked like very strange centers! I do hope you can finish it or make it into smaller quilts maybe...

It is not a bowtie block, but when I see the whole quilt photo it sure reminds me of that layout.
