Hi, my name's Valerie and I've been quilting for a year. My grandmother and great grandmother like to quilt and sew, mostly by hand, so I grew up knowing the basics like sewing on a button, repairing a hem, etc.

Last year I got a crazy idea of getting a sewing machine, I bought a cheap one because I didn't want to see the "I told you so" look from hubby if I didn't like it, lol.

I've now graduated to a singer confidence quilter, I know it's still a pretty low end machine but it works great for me and I love it.

Here is a sample of the quilt's I've made in the last year or so:

My first quilting project was a tree skirt

The quilted tree skirt and the blue quilt were both McCall's patterns.

The tree skirt pattern was from one of the pre-packaged patterns that I bought at Joann's and it also included patterns for matching stockings (made those) and a drape for the mantle (didn't make).

The blue quilt I found online, it's called Rhapsody in Blue:
I tried to post the link, but it's been removed from mccalls website. I think it was published in 1999.
