I have a request I am hoping one of you can help with. I have been searching for 2 years to find a coat pattern that is suitable for making a fur coat for me. I have always wanted to try it, but I can't find a pattern that is my size (26). I am hoping to find a pattern that is along the lines of a stadium coat. I have already purchased the faux fur fabric and lining fabric. I bought 6 yards of each, so that I knew I would have enough. The leftovers will be made into a 'snuggie' for watching TV in the winter. You were all so helpful with the "mailing" issue, I just knew this was the place to ask. Thank you all for adding a 'warm fuzzy' to my life.
P.S. My sewing area is almost done. I will post pictures when I am finished with it, (and the coat).

Hi, Just wondering how thick the faux fur is, and can you tell me what a 'stadium' coat is? I love to go hunting for things, so I'll be happy to see what I can come up with for you.

Is this sort of the idea but a little too short?

Have you thought about adapting a cape pattern?

I am looking for a coat that is just below the hip, but I can make that adjustment. I hope to find one that has a close neckline, to make it easier to put a zipper in the front. (Sort of like a man's fleece coat, but lined). No fussiness in collar area. I have deep brown heavy 'cuff stuff' for the trim. Thank you for offering to help me 'hunt". Look for pictures of the fabric under the new 'Fir Coat' Topic.

Be very careful with patterns! The size on a sewing pattern has NOTHING to do with the size of store bought clothing. Measure the largest part of your body, (on me the big ole hiney) and compare with the measurments on the back of the pattern. It would be awful if you searched for a pattern and made a coat that would not fit.

You may want to consider a swing coat rather than a stadium coat. I made a swing coat 19 years ago and still wear it. I get compliments on it everytime I do. I have even had men tell me they like my coat. (Receiving compliments is NOT on my daily adgenda, so I remember them).

Try this website, they have a metro jacket that is long that might be on the line you are thinking about.

I also have this pattern, it's uncut, had it forever and never used it. It's an "over" jacket, and it's long. Let me know if you are interested.
