This is a wall hanging for my almost 2 year old daughter. She loves fairies and birds, so i wanted to do something interesting for her. She loves the color purple too, so I found some tone on tone purples and came up with this idea. Now that the top is done with fusible applique and some lace (my lovely DD is such a girly girl) I have no idea how to quilt it. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

That is really pretty - maybe "in the ditch" around the girl - after that - no idea

I would quilt in the veins on the leaves and on the feathers, outline 3 times for all of the figures and then do either a meandering or a feather stitch. I would do something unexpected like a double diamond design in the borders.

Lovely, most important is to have fun with it

Such a beautiful wall hanging!

Whatever you do, keep it really simple, to emphasize the etherial feel of the picture.

What about something that resembles the wind. With the birds flying and her hair having movement, it reminds me of a nice breeze.

Oh just by the way, it's beautiful!!!

That is beautiful, I have no idea on the quilting though. My DD is a girly girly girl too...the child practically bleeds glitter. Lord knows where she gets it from...certainly not me.

Oh, that is so nice. How about outline on the leaves and birds, the something "flowing" on the background to simulate a light breeze. Perhaps leaves in the border.

This is beautiful! I would print out several copies of a picture of it and start doodling to see what looks best. Also try checking out Leah Day's FMQ website for ideas.

I would quilt it with a lavender thread that gets lost in the background. I would quilt a hummingbird in the upper right corner, quilt around the leaves and the other two hummingbirds, then a little whispy meander to fill in.. not really tight meander, just loose and whispy.
