My DH set up my Christmas present ... Bailyeys Pro 17 on a GMQ Pro frame. I started practicing a pantograph and find it very confusing to move to the next row. I have always done FMQ on my Bernina. I find myself getting mixed up quilting backwards and not seeing what I am doing. My mind is all fuddled! I see the dotted tops of design and try to copy that section of the design and wind up overlapping some lines. Does anyone have some advice to offer? I have no problem practicing continuous loops, etc. on the front, :lol:

the way i do it is when you are done with one line ..from right to left ..before you sew the next line ....move your bailyey pro 17......like your sewing but ar`nt ...to see where the next line will fall...follow the pattern as if you are sewing ....then move the panto so you dont sew over ..what you have already done ......its helps me ...

Do you like your bailey 17, I am thinking about one with my g frame.

Do a "dry" run of the pattern. Unthread your upper thread, and with the sewing machine actually running, "stitch" out the pattern. Not only will this help imprint the design into memory, you can work out any confusion areas.

I am also thinking of one with my Gracie frame. Do you like the machine?

Move your panto if you need to.

Thanks for the advice. I love the machine and frame. I have practiced feathers and they didn't come out badly. Loops were pretty simple. Doing meandering is a breeze and I love that so much can be quilted straight across. The best part is no basting and no wrinkles on the backing!
