Default Attack Threat Message

Hi,
I have tried to go into one of your e-mails and my Norton security stops me from going into that days e-mail stating there is an Attack Threat. This has happened several times to me. Today's message is ok I got in. Yesterday's is the one with the Attack Threat Message. I sent another e-mail a couple wks back hopefully it helps someone from getting a virus. If I can help you further please PM me. Thanks for your help. Sue

I have gotten the same Threat. It has happened I think 3 times in the last couple of weeks. I of course I click out of it. It only happens on this site. It also make it so I have to relog in.

I'm going to copy/paste PatriceJ's reply to previous posts regarding this:

it is not a virus. it's a pop-up ad.
my own theory is that one of the ads being pushed through the space is infected with adware or spyware.
the techs try to block all pop-ups but this one is particularly annoying and was programmed to elude most defense measures.

when the invisible ad/spyware tries to install itself, our own anti-virus programs prevent it.
mine activates the additional step of temporarily blocking all traffic from the website.
that's why it's necessary to shut down the browser completely to get rid of it.

therefore, it's a "good-news-bad-news" thing. the ad and having to close and restart the browser is a pain in the butt. on the other hand, that's at least proof that our AV programs are protecting our computers. it's also important to remember that the board itself is not infected with a virus. as long as you have good AV software installed on your computer and keep it up to date there's nothing to worry about.

if you know how to take a screen-shot, please do that if you get the false AV notice.
send it by email to [email protected]

they will appreciate any clues we can provide to track down the source and block it.

The first and most important thing to remember is that the emails are not the board.
They are only a link to a smattering of thread links.
They barely scratch the surface of all that's available here.

If you know you want to come to the board often, the emails are a waste of time.
they slow you down.
why wait for an email?

You never need those emails to connect to the board.
Just come straight to http://www.quiltingboard.com

If you like starting with the sample list of links, go to the Resources tab.
Make sure to keep exploring, though, so you don't miss any of the good stuff. :-)

You can add it to your browser favorites/bookmarks, put a shortcut on your desktop, or (if you are a total QB junkie like me) you can make it your home page.

Try using the direct route.
You might find you like it better. :-)
