Very unusual on a forum (in general) to be permitted a change of name without good reason.

Just create a new account and put "previously <name>" in signature.

Thats funny other forums I'm a member of starting a new account will get you perma banned. On those sites you nicely ask Mods and admin and they change your name.

if you choose to start a new account, you lose your member status and will have to start over with qualifying for selling and other forums that require qualification. you will lose your feedback score status and your albums won't move with you.

A friend joined and without realizing she set up her first and last night for her quilt board name. She wanted to get her last name off here. That is what prompted my question above.

I believe if that person would contact [email protected], she would be glad to edit the user name, since a privacy issue is involved.

members are not supposed to open more than one "account."
when we know there are multiple memberships, we delete the extras.

we don't normally change usernames but i will do that when:
-member no longer wishes to use her/his real name;
-member used his/her email address as username.
in all other circumstances there must be a compelling reason that relates to the person's privacy or safety.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I have passed it on to the new member. It is so nice to be able to get things settled so quickly or should I say answered so quickly on here. I love it.

Thank you, Patrice, for your very helpful information. I don't plan on changing my username, but it's good to know if someone asks.
