just a suggestion

Some time ago a friendly member of this board recommended that I go to archive to see all the new posts. What a good idea that turned out to be. I wonder how many of you start your day on the Quilting Board at "archive". If there are many of us doing that, would it make sense to put the archive link at the top of the home page? Just a suggestion.

This is the only way I use the QB. It is so much easier to tell what I have viewed already. I do check the home page on Monday to see the featured quilt of the week. It is on the right side of the home page. However you choose to use the QB it is a great site:)

I go to the Archive too.

I'm sitting here a little dumbfounded - how do you get to 'archive' ?

ArtsyOne 10-17-2012 01:30 PM

Another dumbfounded person. Have never run across Archive - apparently I'm missing something!

That's the only way I use the forum. The Archive link is at the bottom of this page. On my PC it's in a brown strip:

"Help" "Contact Us" "Archive"...
Accessing the archive brings up a list of all the topics in that forum in chronologic order, with the newest post on the top.

I never use archive! The problem with it is that you only see the titles of the posts, not the names of the posters, or other info, and you can't hover over the title and see what the first few lines of the post are. Instead, I went to each section that I normally read (Main, Pictures, etc.) and I sorted that section by the time of the first post. Then I bookmarked that page using my web browser. Now I just go to my bookmarks and find Main, Pictures, etc. sorted in the way I want them, by time the thread was started.

I don't know about the archive either. I just go to Main or Tutorials or Pictures or another section and read through it. I usually get pms and read those also. I love the main and tutorials the most. I don't know if I'm interested in doing things differently after all this time.

I never use the archive page either. For one thing you can't tell what the current topics of conversation are if you only read in order of posting. Down at the bottom of page when you're in a section, like main, is a place where you can sort them several different ways. After I've read what's the most recent replied to then I sort by most recently posted.

I go to the Archive too. The only way I do it. It would be great to be at the top.
