Posting a picture?

I haven't posted a picture here since the forum changed and now I find I don't understand the directions on the help page.It says something about a special icon at the top of the blank post but I don't see it. Could someone explain it to me, please? Thank you.

Ok. If you look in the message box you will see a little icon that looks like a tree. Click on the tree and go from there. Make sure your pictures are 640 x 480 pixels or smaller or they won't load

if you do not see the icon, go to settings/general settings. scroll way down and choose WYSIWYG. be sure to save your changes

CindyinNY 03-31-2013 06:51 PM

I did what you said but I still don't get it. There are NO icons when I click to make a post and there is no where that says WYSIWYG anywhere in my settings. I guess I don't need to post pictures. Thanks anyway.

When you go to make ANY post, there should be a bar above where you type in your text. That bar has icons for changing the letters, font, emoticon, etc. and third from the end of the icon bar, the little tree. If you do not see the icon bar you have to go to settings at the very top of the page where it says Welcome CindyinNY and change as per QuiltnNan instructions.

Hover your mouse over the little square 3rd from the right and you will see "insert image". This is the icon that you click to bring up the window for you to browse to the folder where you store your pix. Choose the pix and ''save'', then click "upload"

Cindy, don't feel bad, you are not alone. I read through the instructions and none of it applied to my computer/settings.

What I wound up doing was going to the bottom of the screen and click on "Manage Attachments." I had to upload one picture at at time, but the post had them all run one after another. I made all my comments at the top of the post. Make sure you "preview post" before you post it.

Cindy - just saw where they were talking about.

Go to top of this screen next to Log Out. To it's left is the Settings. Click on Settings.

Scroll down left side of screen till you get to General Settings. Click on General Settings.

Now scroll down almost all the way. Under Miscellaneous Editor Interfaces choose Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing. Save changes.

Thank you everyone! I fianlly found what I needed to do and I now have the icons! Sometimes I can be such a doh head. :(

Maybe now I can manage to post the picture I have been trying to do for days.

This is what I've been trying to post. I wanted to find the fabric but haven't yet, so I bought the "quilt". I'm not sure if it can be called a quilt or not because it is just one piece of fabric and then fancy stitched or embroidered around the green squares. Doesn't matter to me, it looks like a quilt and it will look awesome on my light lavender walls in my craft room. :)
I have a lot to learn with this new format. There is another picture, but it wouldn't load.

Maybe the pictures should be under a new post but I don't want to mess with it after FINALLY getting it. ;)

Gee I do know how to post pictures here and when I try the screen gets all white and I can add the attachment but nothing happens after that. I am left looking at a blank screen with the box that shows a file has been selected to be uploaded but nothing happens. Wonder what is wrong?

I am having the problem when I want to post pictures in a thread. I have no problem uploading them to my projects page. When I try to post a picture in a thread after I choose the picture and click on "Upload" the screen is all white with a smaller box in the center and after I click on UPLOAD it just sits there and nothing gets done. I've only had this problem since last week. I never had trouble before posting pictures. Sounds like I am not the only one having this problem. Darn.

nygal 04-21-2013 06:24 AM

I am again able to post pictures WITHIN A THREAD now by going thru Google Chrome. Another lady on the boards had the same problems I was having posting them in threads and the Chrome worked for her and for me.

Trying to post picture with WindowsXL

The picture is showing in Manage Attachments. I am running XL with Internet Explorer 8, I just recently updated my browser. My best friend who works as Disneyland is NOT familiar at all with Firefox. It is hard to try new things if you don't have help and support. Read thru this post so I am just going to try it. I am moving to an apt half the size of my home and I need to post pictures to give some of the excess I can't take with me !!

ManiacQuilter2 04-27-2013 01:27 PM

WOW, I guess one can STILL post pictures on XL. As I said, I am on IE8 and went thru Manage Attachments. Thanks for letting me test this out. This was a UFO that I had on my design wall for TWO LONG years. Still wish I could have found one more dark but I am just glad that it is DONE!! My friend said she doesn't want a border so all I have to do is find time to ship it off to her.

Foxflower 04-29-2013 03:52 PM

Good job Joellyn on the quilt top and on posting a pic. I may have to try the manage attachments thing. If we could all just figure out why internet explorer is giving us trouble...
