Why NOT to refer to PAGE NO on posts

I so often see where some entries refer to the "page number" on the topic. That doesn't work the same for everyone. It depends on your settings and how many posts you choose to have on a page. The choices range from 5 on a page to 40 (my choice) per page. Having more per page eliminates having to constantly be clicking on "next page".

For that reason it is important to refer to the "post number" of the topic.

To change your choice for number of post to each page, go to the top of the page and click on "Settings" > My Account >General Settings >scroll down the page to >Number of Posts to show per page - then click on the box showing the number you have presently and it will give you the choice of 5 - 10 - 20 -30 - 40. Wa-La. Your done!

I hope this was helpful to someone.

'Referring" to the post number is unnecessary if you link directly to it.

Click on the post # in any post (on right side of the dark tan band at the top of the post, same as the time/date stamp), the URL will change (in the address bar) to be a direct link to THAT particular post.

And THAT's the URL that should be copied and pasted when supplying a link, not the general thread one, to lead directly to the specific post, regardless of how many posts per page in each member's setting.

This way you can supply a clickable link to the 3,482th post on page 89 in a thread - way more helpful.
It does sometimes take a moment or two for the "board" to get you there, but it will put that post at the top of the page...and you still have access to everything before and after if needed.
