Hey, those of you having trouble with the popups, have you tried this?
Settings - Safari - Scroll Down to "Block Pop-Ups"
Make sure this is on. I only have an iPhone, my tablet is android, but I only get "some" of the popups and crap, none of the really invasive ones that others have reported.

Hopefully your IE will be updated at some point for security reasons I mentioned above, but otherwise I say "Surf in Peace"
