This is so humorous to read because I know it so very well-first hand. On Tuesday, I finished teaching a class & was so jazzed and tired, I went to a fabric store. Since I hadn't joined this challenge, I couldn't fall off the wagon-right. For 4 years, I've been on a tight fabric budget that is 10% of what I used to spend. And I know better than to go into a fabric store when I'm tired & excited about quilting. My friends joke about "shopping at Laura's" cause they can usually find what they want, & I get to decrease my stash. Last year I discovered my scrap box might have what I needed for the size quilts I'm making now: small-doesn't put much dent in the stash. And same friends put their scraps in my box for the next person. I rarely make any progress on my stash. I do need---STOP RIGHT THERE!!! I'll go search my stash first. Whew, made it through that moment. And I'm staying home tomorrow. But Sunday, Joanne's has flannel on sale, which I don't have, & I need some PJ tops-I've already searched the stores.
Fabriholics unite! We can beat this!

No fabric purchases for me this month and no yarn purchases, either. Hadn't decided to sign up for this before but now I'm in. Trying hard to allow myself 'time to sew' after work. I've bought a bunch of fabric for gifts and charity and it's taking up space. Also doesn't help that I seem to have quilter's ADD. However, it wasn't that hard not to buy this month.

I don't want a thread stash, but I found an inexpensive online site and ordered some, then my GS showed up last night with a box full from Salvation Army and wanted to share with me. I do not need any thread!

IT'S KILLING ME!!! Been very good month one...ordered a roll of batting so I could stay out of the stores, to get batting as I use my stash fabrics..couldn't find my favorite thimble and sent daughter to get it as I sat in the car, to avoid temptation!!! It's amazing how my bills are getting paid on time!~!

I should not buy any material. I did not buy any material in January. Yes, in Dec I looked at Walmart and did see any material I wanted. Did not have much time and I did see the price of batts had jump up from few months back. Dec I did not buy any material.

This has been a COLD, snowy, nasty winter. I managed a walk till Mid-Dec when it really started in. You would think I would get getting sewing done. Just got over the flu from in Dec. I using the rec center treadmill for walking.

I have started on a quilt top. Another 16 patch. Muli colored blocks no two a like. That was scraps I had to get used up. I having hard time getting these blocks squared and a white border around each and then will set with blue. I think I have the hang of how to do it now. Why this one is taking so long.

When you are in the gas/oil fields (to be by son) and 90 miles to the big city you do rather stock up. But I really need to get a lot of material used up in my life time what ever that will be that I can see to sew. I have more material down home to get moved up here. Some of that took me years to round up that material and get colors I would need. Be my own designs but really I am new to anything but sewing square block quilts. I have more to learn how.

And money wise now I will not have money to buy much material now anyway.

Some one heere said they were planing on some quilts for the nursing home. Bed quilts? Or lap quilts? If bed quilts can they be justbe blocks sewed together and lined and backed? What type acceptable?

I went off the "program" today. The money DH had given me and some of my own entered the economy in our county as I shopped at the LQS on the last day of the sale. This is not an excuse, just facts: I was crabby this morning after I vowed to not shop for fabric. Then I threw common sense to the wind and shopped. My purchases were closeouts on fat quarters and jelly rolls. Now, I am a happy camper. :-) Thrilled with my purchases of 30's reproduction collection; Mary Engelbreit jellyroll, and extra bright FQs for scrappy..... I did not need/want any notions, patterns, etc. High grade fabric is a luxury. :-)

Please excuse me now as I want to go downstairs to sew.......... Piecefully yours :-D

Kay, good for you. It was a gift from your husband and needed to be treated with due respect. Enjoy your fabrics and show us a picture of something pretty made from them just for you.

Unfortunately, I don’t even have to leave the house to buy fabric. I just deleted a bunch of emails from various fabric places without even opening them. Fortunately, I have a PaperPrincess assignment today. I’m making shower invitations for my great nephew and his intended. That should keep me out of trouble!
