I'm excited about the challenge of using my stash first. So far I've only had to get a bit more of the lighter blue fabric I was using on DD's quilt. Had enough to do a smaller size and she decided she wanted it bigger. Of course SHE found fabric she wanted so I got that and a piece that will round out another set of colors that I use a lot. Am now working on projects that will either get current UFOs done or will go into a friend's shop this fall.

I thought February was off to a great start. In the past week I gave away 25+ POUNDS of fabric to various friends. Then I went to my niece's who handed me a grocery bag of fabric, all cottons. I could just give it to various friends without looking at it, but I think I should just check it out first... I mean it would be rude to my niece, right? Maybe there's a loophole for fabric received as a gift!

Lucky you!! No way does this count against you!! Especially, if you give away a bunch. I certainly would go through it all, keep what I REALLY lliked, then give the rest away. My sister has two DD, very fashion conscious, so she made a rule, if you buy something to wear, you MUST donate an item for each to the local Clothes Closet (a second-hand shop here that helps out families inneed in our community). Good idea, but she didn't inforce it on herself!!!

Glad to know there's a vacation exception. Looking forward to getting to the Happy Apples QS in Florida soon. Haven't been there yet. I don't plan on a big splurge but sure expect to make a purchase or two.

This weekend is going to be a tough one for me. I am going to the town where the closest Joann's is, and I need to go see if they have any new marble colors in that I've been collecting for our quilt. Of course, I have a mailer coupon for 50% of 1 non-sale fabric, and I'm sure there's probably a % off on the phone app too. This is where I get into trouble though...I don't have any "spring" fabrics for this table runner swap I'm doing, unless I break into the bug, monkey, and frog prints that I bought for a quilt and the 4 year old girl's mother says she's suddenly in the marker phase & messing up bedding left & right (she gets up in the middle of the night and has learned to be quiet), so I'm not making it right now. Knowing I don't have these fabrics, and they have them all on sale $2 off per yard, it's going to be hard not to get extra because I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. Oh, then they're already talking about the next swap being "patriotic", and knowing Joann, they already have some of that in stock & I only have 1 patriotic print in my stash. These are the "buy ahead" thoughts I have to fight when I go in there every time.

I bought 1 1/2 yards of a WOW for the background of a Carpenter Star at JoAnn's yesterday. I walked out with just that one piece of fabric which has to be a first. Hopefully, that's my fabric purchase for the month. When JoAnn's is 50 miles away, it's hard to not 'stock up'. Let's stay strong together!

So...we have a snow day today (we both teach). The snow isn't bad at all yet so we went out for some Chinese. DH asked if I wanted to go anywhere else since we'll probably be snowed in til Sunday. Joann's is just up the road. He dropped me off and went to get some snow day snacks and I browsed around the store with my 20% coupon. On the way out (after finding a few odds and ends), a fabric caught my eye. It has a black background with frogs doing yoga on it and gray sayings. Super cute! So I got a half yard. My DD will love it as an octagonal tabletop per and I can make a zipped pouch for my yoga teacher, too. Told the young clerk that it was the first fabric I'd bought since Dec 28th. She said, "You've been keeping track?", with a confused expression. Guess she doesn't know many people who have plenty of fabric. I really feel okay getting it since I'm motivated to use it right away and I'll have more finished items leaving the house on Monday.

I appreciate this support group. So far this month, I have been continuing to declutter and drop off large brown grocery bags of misc. at Vinnie's. The master bath storage has been purged of any unnecessary items and rearranged. A friend is also decluttering, so that is helpful. I did cave and ordered the template and papers for the Periwinkle design quilt on the Missouri Star tutorial. As I am sorting, things I will use during the spring quilt retreat are being gathered together. This Periwinkle design will be my main project at the retreat....and I decided the papers would make the project that much easier.

Now, I am going downstairs to sew. Taking a break from decluttering is in order!

Wow, sounds like everyone is holding tough! All those trips to JoAnn's by DustysMomma, irishrose and lots2do with minimal purchases. I'm impressed!

Paper, don't be impressed by me yet. I have to get through tomorrow without convincing myself to go over there, lol! I have a 50% off 1 non-sale fabric that expires tomorrow!
