Okay this might just be me but I definately think that vacation purchases should be exempt. Especially if you are going to BALI!! I certainly won't think bad of you if you come home with a stack.of beautiful fabrics! Just want to see pictures though!!!!

I am proud of myself - again!! I have an order for another jeans bag- with pink ribbon theme, which I didn't have. So, off to the fabric store! I ONLY bought what I needed for that bag, some iron-on patches for that bag, and a few items ( not fabric) for secret pal swaps. I also got a package of leather needles for ATTEMPTING to make a purse out of leather pieces someone gave me. As I was paying, the sales girl said "is that all"?? and I laughed! That doesn't mean ai didn't look at fabric, fondle and drool, but I held strong and resisted!!

Bali?!! Of course you would get a vacation exemption... They are not really stash purchases, they are more like souvenirs. Make sure you bring an empty suitcase.

I am actually pre calculating just how much batiks weigh , and what that weight works out to in meters ( thats how its sold not yards like I am used to ). This is the top of the bucket list trip. I plan on leaving behind clothing , if I have to!

Stopped into Joanne's today for silk flowers and didn't even glance at the fabric. Wonder if I'm coming down with the flu or something!

I am starting to feel immune. I stopped by Hancock's yesterday and just got $3.00 of fleece (for gifts)and that was it. I think of this site and go home. This sure is saving me a lot of money.

Has anybody considered that if everybody did this, there would be no quilt shops available when you want to shop in December? They will all have gone out of business! Fortunately, not everybody will do it. If I had a stash like the one pictured above, or as some people describe, I guess I could do it too. But most of my stash are less than one yard pieces for various reasons. I am working on a quilt using a set of shop hop fabric I bought last year, but had to get background fabrics, and borders. Still need the backing, too, but I'm waiting until I'm ready for it. Good luck using up those humongous stashes! I plan to do some scrappies when I finish what I'm doing now.

LynnVT and others, I agree that we do need to keep local quilt shops in business. I think the whole point of this was to try and use up some of what we have sitting on shelves and not just buy more to sit there along with it. I will still buy stuff I need to finish projects but am going through my stash first to see what I can use with projects I start fresh. :-)

Ok. I just slipped! Missouri Star Quilt Co tempted me to much with their "Deal of the Day" - a charm pack ( stone chip pack) of Northcott Stonehenge fabrics in my favorite colors- 36 stunning pieces-for $2.99 plus postage. That is like 75% off. Stonehenge is my ultimate favorite fabrics and just can't afford the price normally. SO, I see a gorgeous bag FOR ME!!! Yea!!!! And I paid for if from Paypal. which is just my "play money" account. Beverly's also has a Deal of the Day, which I get so tempted (3 fabrics each day priced down to $2.99/yard), and have bought in the past, but since I have been on this fabric diet since January, I haven't bought a single yard from them. But, it is HARD to resist!!
