Admitting the addiction is the first step towards a cure.

I went to the safe place yesterday, and took Dusty with me. (I rarely make impulse fabric buys at Hobby Lobby.) I told him he was along to keep me on task and moving toward the door once I got what I came for. I went for batting, and that's all I got!

Oh thank you I do not feel so guilty now. I too am trying to make up kits for quilts I want to make from my stash. I am hoping that by keep pecking away at the scarps I can avoid new lines calling my names. I have to say a lot of the new fabrics are not appealing to me anyway which is probably a good thing. I love scrappy quilts so i think that probably goes in my favor to be honest. I am really enjoying going through my scraps like a big shop in a bag which I can go to at my convenience

Unfortunately--or fortunately however you want to take it--I went to local thrift store. Oh Oh someone cleaned out their sewing room. Found several pieces of new LQS fabric for $1 a yard; a 1 1/2 yd of the fleece with reflective coating in it for 75 cents; a couple of big bags of scraps for $6 each with scraps which are 12" cuts of fabric. Some fabrics I normally use and then styles to experiment with.

Yeah! I did it, finished up a stack of fat quarters that have been in my stash for about seven years. Just hated to cut into them. Think the daughter will take this quilt because was her win from a quilt show. Yes, she gave me permission to make something with them. Did the January About Quilting 2013 Mystery Quilt. Love this pattern, turned out very pretty, posted on the UFO2013 sister thread to show progress. Think I will use the last of the scraps for the outside border to clean them out completely or to the tiny pieces at least. I do need a zinger on it so may have to purchase 1/2 yard of fabric in a gray stonehenge I think. That way the rest of the blues, greens, blacks, reds, and browns can be used in the outer border with a dark brown binding. Maybe the dark brown for zinger. Will see what have when I get to quilt shop. So I did bust some fabric out of the mortuary for sure.

Oksew glad...I think we all would have grabbed the deals you found..I bought 2 overfull trashbags of fabric 2 weeks ago for $3 a bag..To not feel so guilty I have finished one lap quilt, and am ready to sandwich a second..all from stash...I then spend an hour a day getting scraps cut into sizes I will use....I still haven't even looked at all the fabrics I got thoroughly...I signed up to make tote bags for children cancer hospital, so a lot of this fabric will most likely end up in the totes...Check out "Sadies Dream" in our request area...looks like a great way to pay it forward!!

Have to confess that one foot fell off the wagon and I ordered a charm pack of kid prints from KQ because they were offering free shipping this weekend. Actually, I ordered 2 of the same because I have 4 girl baby quilts to get finished by July and needed the charm packs to use for the other two. Then hubby has been offering to take me to a fabric store up the road about 80 miles so when we were out and about the other day, we did. (We were actually in a town just 20 miles from it so did not make a special trip) I bought some black which I needed and did not have in my stash and 2 yards each of a pink and a pale green for baby quilts so think I did well overall. Still plan to shop my stash for granddaughter's graduation quilt that I will start on this summer for her next May graduation. It will be a challenge so will keep you posted as to my progress.

I got an email with a clearance price on a fabric I've been dying to get for a baby project. I just don't know if I can pass it up! I got away once, but I just keep on thinking there's only 3 left & it's the cheapest price I've found on it.

The other day I picked up this bag which I have moved from place to place and decided to do something with it. Looked inside and there were hundreds of cut triangles, a light and dark one paired, right sides together, just begging to be sewn. Must have been corners cut off of snowball blocks or flying geese. So, away I went. Sewed 'em, trimmed 'em and ended up with lots of half square triangle blocks. Now what to do? Looked again in the bag and there were charms in coordinating colors. I like to think I finished this quilt for Julia - hopefully in the design she had in mind. And here's a "connection to the other world" thing. ONE of the blocks had the star points reversed - green, not white as I had made every single other one. Now why would I make a mistake like that????? Pretty sure she was saying - no, I had planned green star points!!!! So, I left it that way and put it in the quilt.
I love your story about the unplanned block. I bet your friend is smiling down at you from above.
