I was thinking of a small log cabin or courthouse steps. I like to make little quilts Do any of you remember the craze of guys wearing silk shirts in the late 80's and early 90's. Having a couple of teenaged sons at that time I kept a couple of their shirts that I might add to the bag--one is an off white and would yield a lot of neutral fabric to the quilt. I thought the snipits I would use in a crazy quilt.

I sandwiched two of my charity quilts this weekend and got one quilted. Both the backings and the binding came from the stash. It feels good.

Thanks for the post! I also have a collection of silk shirts, mostly aloha prints I got at Salvation Army for a buck each. I ordered the iron on stablizer, but got the wrong stuff and haven't done anything with them since. They are sitting in a bag in the guest bath tub (another fabric storage facility). I need to go to JoAnn's, buy the right stuff and start!

Well I looked at the for sale or trade section of this board and totally lost the wagon!
However I've been using stash for most of my projects lately.
Now it will be even easier to continue to do so. Sounds like a good reason, right?
Anyway I got things I know I will use - blenders, batiks, purples. And I've received nice packages of vintage scraps to use for my double wedding ring quilt that I've been wanting to do for years. Will have to purchase the cream colored muslin for it.

PaperPrincess: What a great idea! I have two bathrooms but live alone. I could turn the bathtub into a FSF, with the shower curtain no one would ever know. Wonder why you started this moratorium.
Mom-6: Seriously, blenders will help you to use up your other fabrics. I usually go for the focus fabrics, then when I shop my stash, thats what I need to pull a quilt together. When I do fall off the wagon, which is often, thats what I try to get.

Emma S: A friend who has a quilting business uses her tub to store large rolls of batting. She has glass shower doors and can really get a lot of stuff in there! My silk shirt stash is stored in the packaging that a down comforter came in, like a 30 inch cube. I had it tucked in the corner of my sewing room and pulled it out when I ordered the stabilizer. When I realized I got the wrong stuff, I got discouraged and the cube sat in the middle of the living room. My BFF and her husband came over. Her husband had just purchased some silk shirts and could not believe that I got mine for a dollar, as he paid A LOT more. He went thru my bag and found a half dozen that fit him and he liked (I'm counting this as stash reduction). It was just before his BD, so instant gift. When they left I tossed the bag into the tub to get it out of the way... I really need to purchase the right stabilizer and get my butt in gear on this project.
